Speak life over your day today!

There is always something good in everyday. No matter how your day is going, just remember that God sees you and is taking care of you more than you realize. Be mindful of his presence and you will begin to see life in a new and beautiful way. :]

Peace In the Storm

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” // John 14:27

This week has been a rough one for me. It has been very hard for me to keep peace in my heart, soul, and mind. Some of the things I deal with, as an attack of the enemy, are through my current circumstances. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy. He loves to steal our peace. There are things in my life that bring me a great deal of stress. I know it is that way with most people as well. As for me, I allow things to control me in such a way to where I am not effective in the Kingdom of God. Now, I do not cuss and spit and fight or whatever, but I do beat myself up and dwell on my present, or even future circumstances, to the point of mental meltdowns. I work at a bank. The days I don’t work at the bank I am babysitting. So all summer long all I’ve done is work, except for my vacations. I am still 16, so it has been a very growing and maturing process for me this summer. I have learned so so so many things through my working experiences. Here are some of the things I have learned:

• You will never please everyone as long as you are living on this earth; It’s just human nature. People are all different and not everyone will understand you.

• You are not meant to be perfect. There was one person who was, and we are certainly not him. Also, the bible talks about how we face certain trials in our lives so that we may become more like Jesus. Through  perseverance and failures we create character.

• Do not settle for a mediocre life, job, husband, (or wife if you’re a guy reading this,) anything! God has so much in store for you. He has great and wonderful things that he desires for you to have. It is our duty as Christians to lend and ear to hear his voice. He will never leave you astray. If you listen close enough, he has something to say concerning your every circumstance or condition. Pray, just talk to the Father.

• NEVER compare yourself to others. All that does is still your joy and create scars in your heart. You are uniquely and wonderfully made! You have traits and qualities that no one else might have! Learn how to love yourself first. Speak life over yourself. Tell yourself you’re beautiful. Tell yourself that you are wonderfully made. Tell yourself that you have your own personal gift to offer to the world.  If you look at yourself through the eyes of God, you will never be disappointed. After all, his say is the only one that truly matters.

• Most importantly, you are NOT a failure. So what if you’re not the greatest at what you are doing? You learn, you grow, and you do YOUR best even though you feel like it’s useless. Stick it through. You will receive your reward in full. Maybe it’s God nudging you away from something he doesn’t see benefitting you. It really can be a painful process to endure… But it’s so worth it in the end. Finding who you are and who you are called to be is always worth the struggles, trials, and hardships you may face. You will face them, too. It is enevitable. Just know that there is a God in heaven who adores you and is perfectly pleased with you. He loves you no matter what. He always has and he always will.

He is here

He’s so beautiful! There are no words to articulate his majesty. His presence is something to be experienced. It does not always have to be a moment where you are on your knees screaming and crying out to God. I love the moments where God just shows up! Just shows right up in my everyday life. Like tonight for example… I was going to go for a run in the middle of town, but God had other plans. I live about 10 minutes out of town and I always pass this little pond when I make my way into town. So as I was driving, I felt the Lord speak to my heart. It was as if He was saying to me, “Why don’t you spend some alone time with me?” It’s not like I don’t spend enough quiet time or do my devotions- just alotted time with God. But this was different. I love how God can be spontaneous with us sometimes. So here I was, basically making a U- turn to drive to this pond. It was an opportunity to get away from myself and my plans and just go spend time with The Lord and see what was on His heart. I don’t know about you, but thinking about myself just wears me out. I have had tendencies where I would dwell on the season I was in with my life. It consumed me. I would wish I was older, taller, more independent, smarter, prettier, the list would go on. But in all honesty, if you let these mindsets control you, your spirit man and your physical man will slowly deteriorate. You will get in such a state of mind where you are so unhappy that it’s like a hole you can not come out of. Trust me, I’ve been there. Finally, the Lord had to come give me the OK to just be myself and learn to love who He created me to be! Also to love the season I was in no matter what because it will only allow me to grow spiritually stronger and mentally stronger. I love when God interrupts my plans. I love to dream and imagine scenerios. Sometimes my hopes and dreams are not in align with God’s. It hurts at times because we want what we want. But I’ve always prayed that I would fall in love with His plan for me. No matter what it looks like. God’s plans are SO much better. He has the absolute best in mind for you. I don’t care if you agree to disagree. It’s true. But anyways, so I went to the park where I had no clue what to expect because once again my plans were beautifully interrupted. I was completely in awe at the colorful and peaceful landscape! I put my head phones in and began to listen to worship songs. One of the songs that came on shuffle was, “He is Here.” It’s a beautiful, poetic song going into great detail of just what His presence is described as. Here are some of the lyrics:

He is beauty.

And oranges, blues, every hue, every shade.

Sunsets and sunrise whisper his name…”

I felt so strongly how near he was as I listened to this song. The atmosphere around me screamed his presence. It was him. He was there. He brought me to that place just to sit there in awe and bask in His glory. Just to take it all in. Soak up His sweet fragrance. And I was so glad for it too. Do not be discouraged if you feel the Lord is uprooting your plans, hopes, dreams. His are far greater and exceeds all our expectations…

“Now all Glory to God, who IS able, through His power within us to do immensely more than we might even ask, dream, or imagine.” // Ephesians 3:20

The burden of man

10 For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ. 11 For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man’s gospel. 12 For I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ. // Galations 1:10-12

So many times in my life have I taken on the burden of man.  I sat in a Sunday service a few weeks ago where the message was on the burden of man and the burden of the Lord. It really stirred something in me. I soon began to realize just how much I had taken on the burden of man but convinced myself that I was a true servant of the Lord. But a thought occurred in me.. If I was truly a servant of God and wanted to please Him more than anything, why do I feel in a constant battle with trying to please others and feeling acceptance from them all at the same time? It really wears down on you and the result is all the weight that you’re carrying trying not to step on people’s toes and wanted them to like you and respect you so much. If you don’t respect yourself enough to be completely free in who you are, then you’re not going to gain  respect from others. But the question is… who are you? We are all trying to figure it out. I mean in world that is screaming for identity it’s easy to start singing the same song, so to speak. But if we choose to identify with what the bible says about us, then we can gain our true and real identity in Christ. Through that realization, we are allowed access to take on the burden of the Lord. It says that His burden is light and His yoke is easy. Ask God to show you who you are to Him. We are all sons and daughters of the Lord. That means we were bought with a price. The ultimate price. With the blood of Jesus. I believe the the Lord wants to set you free of the burden of man. Ask him to heal you of your constant striving for approval from man. God is pleased by you. He created you and therefore he adores his creations. Take on his burden. It is light and the longer you carry it the stronger you become. Whereas the longer you carry the burden of man the wearier and more beaten down you feel. It’s not always easy, but it is oh so worth it. Ask and you will receive.

True love. Total surrender.

44 Then turning toward the woman he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45 You gave me no kiss, but from the time I came in she has not ceased to kiss my feet. 46 You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment. 47 Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.” 48 And he said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” // Luke 7:44-48

I am completely in awe at how The Lord has touched me tonight. I was truly impacted by the love of Christ. I attended a service for a conference my church holds every summer. I go to these things all the time… Well like at least once every other month or so. But I’ve never really experienced anything like tonight. I just basked in the tangible, adoring presence of Jesus. He’s so wonderful, friends. I’ve grown up in church my whole life and have always “known” of Jesus. But knowing Of him is completely different from truly knowing and experiencing the King of Kings. I can not stop crying. I’m still crying as I type this. It’s so unreal what will happen in a moment when you ask with a receiving heart. The Lord has really given me such a burden for the hearts of people. I didn’t know it was possible for me to be able to love people so much. Even complete strangers. But anyways, the sermon started out with the question: Do you really love Jesus? I mean we say we do but our actions may not always show that to be true. It’s way easier to get caught up in relationships with other people. They are physically here with us after all.  We can respond and they can communicate with us face to face. But Jesus is closer. He is with us in our hearts. He knows us better than anyone else ever could. He loves you for you! He sees you, and he loves you through and through. Communion with the Father his so rewarding and so much more satisfying than the time or efforts a boyfriend, husband could ever dare to give. No contest. Yet we’ve settled for relationships with others and consequently have neglected Jesus…  Look at the bride in Song of Solomon ch. 3:

3 The watchmen found me
as they went about in the city.
“Have you seen him whom my soul loves?”
4 Scarcely had I passed them
when I found him whom my soul loves.
I held him, and would not let him go..”

She is going mad trying to find the lover of her soul. It goes on to say that when she found him she held him and wouldn’t let him go. This is a representation of how we should be with the lover of our souls, Jesus. We are the bride in the story. As for the prostitute in Luke 7, she pours out her expensive perfumes… Her alabaster box and anoints Jesus’s feet, washes his feet with her tears! (And I thought I cried a lot…) that’s a lot of tears! She even goes on to dry them with her hair. Lots of symbolism in this story, but my point in sharing it is this- look at her deep, raw, surrendered love for “the friend of sinners,” Jesus Christ. Don’t neglect him… Pour yourself out to him at his feet. His presence is too sweet and lovely. He leaves me speechless. He leaves me full of hope and joys unexplainable.

“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor; For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.” -Ecc. 4:9-10

People are NOT worth stressing over. Don’t allow someone to steal your peace… Not even your closest friends. True friends will always be there for you. They are the friends who lift you up when you’re down, who desire your presence, who offer a shoulder to cry on, and laugh with. So many times do I feel like my friendship has been taken advantage of. I’m very easy going and usually keep to myself. I never stay upset or mad long at all. But recently I’ve had a friend use the excuse of me being an introvert to justify them not hanging out with me. It is true. I am an introvert. But being alone for so long at a time can cause a lonely spirit to cause discontent in one’s life. Be serious about the people you put in your life. Don’t just hang around people because they give you the time of day. Pick friends who will encourage and inspire- people who will make you a better you.

About me

Hi! My name is Raegan Babb. I have wanted my own blog for a couple of years now, so I finally buckled down and got one. I want this blog to be used as an opportunity to just be a blessing to others. What compels me to write is an array of multiple things. I am on a ministry team called, Revolution, that proclaims the good news of our risen Savior, Jesus Christ, and through this ministry team my love for people continues to grow. I am a rising junior at my local high school and I feel like this is the first year I actually have a voice, due to being an upper class man. So many aspirations are developing in my heart. I know it is the Lord who has placed these thoughts, feelings, and motives inside of me. I work as a bank teller here in my humbling small town. This is my first real job and it has truly gained me valuable experience as I continue to learn something new each day. My parents own a tee shirt company called, Sassy Frass Tees. This year I am privileged to be able to use my parents company as an outlet to sell my own shirts with my designs on them. I am super excited! It seems like everyday I wake up with a new dream or fresh vision about where I want to go with my life. My hope is that through this site, I can share my experiences with you as well as my journey. IMG_5883
